Stocks pulled in the final trading of the year on Thursday. The ASX 200 Index was down 5.5% in 2022. This is the biggest decline since 2018. But over that period the ASX 200 averaged 6.1% gains per annum. And including dividends, average gains for shares over past 4 years were 10.1%pa.
Friday marked the final day of trading in New York with what has been the worst year since 2008.
Inflationary pressures and aggressive rate hikes from the RBA in Australia and Federal Reserve in the US were the main catalyst for this years pull back.
