It seems all strings are being pulled for this State election, with the NSW Opposition Leader Mr Chris Minns pledging to upgrade Fairfield Hospital with a commitment of $115 million over three years, in a bid to expand the hospital bed capacity by almost 60 per cent. The NSW Liberal and Nationals Government has announced a major $672,000 upgrade to the popular local sporting facility Kelso Park North in Canterbury Bankstown LGA. Premier Dominic Perrottet revealed that the upgrades would focus on improving the drainage and ground surface to reduce the number of days the ground is closed due to rain, benefiting local sporting clubs and organisations. The cost of living for working families in Australia has increased sharply, reaching the steepest level in more than two decades, driven mostly by higher mortgage costs. Charities have warned that increasing numbers of households are reaching a crisis point with everyday expenses. A new scholarship launched by the University of Sydney prepares to welcome an additional 1,000 to 1,500 students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The MySydney Entry and Scholarship scheme offers eligible students entrance to an undergraduate degree based on an adjusted ATAR and an $8,500 per annum scholarship for the duration of their selected degree.
